This combined itinerary presents arguably the most diverse tour package available in northern Pakistan. It’s also a perfect gateway trek from the Karakorum mountains (Rakaposhi) into the Himalayas (Nanga Parbat) and offers an unbeatable combination of beautiful meadows, immense glaciers and two of the most spectacularly beautiful faces of the world’s largest mountains. This is the professional summary of our combined trekking itinerary: The Dual Giant Trek – Rakaposhi and Nanga Parbat (5,792m) This dual trek takes in not only two distinct mountain ranges but two of Pakistan’s biggest peaks: Rakaposhi and Nanga Parbat. One of the highlights of trekking in the Karakoram range of the Hunza region of Pakistan, Rakaposhi means ‘Shining Wall’ in Burushaski.
Its name is hardly an exaggeration.
You’re standing on one edge of a colossal glacier and the mountain itself rises vertically for an incredible 6,000 metres from the valley floor – it’s thought to be the highest uninterrupted slope in the world. The trek up to its base camp is less demanding than its size suggests and this is a great starting point as it begins at a relatively low altitude to allow you to acclimatise to walking at altitude, before ascending higher. The trekking here culminates at Rakaposhi’s base camp (Tagaphari).
Rakaposhi Base Camp (Tagaphari) Region : Nagar valley, Karakoram Karakashi’s 7,788m summit is world-famous, rising like a perfectly formed crystal monolith from the valley floor.
You’ll be standing at the foot of what is possibly the longest uninterrupted vertical rise of any mountain in the world. Trekking up through pine forests and high pastures, the terrain is a fairly straightforward uphill to this viewpoint at 3,260m altitude, with amazing views across to the Minapin glacier – the Rakaposhi massif looming directly ahead. Experience : Walking through summer pastures, forest trails and steep slopes culminating on a vast glacier face.

Region : Diamer valley, Himalayas Often cited as a giant fortress, Nanga Parbat’s 8,126m peak is often perceived to be the ‘loneliest’ mountain in Pakistan.
Jeep ride to Tato from where a walk through pine forests takes you into the stunning meadows that give the mountain its common name, Fairy Meadows. This high plateau of lush green grass, dotted with alpine flowers and fringed by pine trees, offers spectacular views towards the enormous, sheer face of the ‘Killer Mountain’. Trekking onward towards Nanga Parbat base camp will take you right to the foot of the imposing Raikot Face, the 4,400m high ice wall, giving you a humbling perspective of its formidable presence and a great vantage point to view some of the historical climbs of the mountain. Experience : Breathtaking views of the Raikot Face, walking in lush pine forests and enjoying the tranquil scenery of the meadows.
