Day 01 :

Arrival in Islamabad (540m)

After our morning departure from Islamabad, today offers one of the most breathtaking aerial transitions in the world. The flight to Skardu is, in itself, quite an experience, taking us over the heart of the Himalayas and Karakoram mountains, with a spectacular opportunity to view the mighty Nanga Parbat (8,126m) standing like an icy giant over its lower brethren.

On our arrival into Skardu - the gateway for most of the expeditions in to the high peaks - a Black Yak Adventure guide will meet us and arrange our private transport to our partner hotel, where we have the remainder of the day to acclimatise and relax. This is the ideal time to perhaps stroll through the historic Skardu Bazaar or visit the colourful out-skirts of the town.

Day 02 :

High-Altitude Flight to Skardu (2,228m)

Depart from Islamabad after breakfast and board an airline to fly on the spectacular "Mountain Flight", one of the world's best and this is the cheapest available method of entering the High Mountains where you can have bird's eye view of the Himalayas & Karakorum ranges & see towering Nanga Parbat (8126m) on the far northern horizon. Arrive at Skardu, the primary entry point and hub for most Karakorum expeditions, meet your Black Yak Adventure representative at the terminal lounge who will drive you in private vehicle to our partner hotel. The afternoon will be spent in resting and Acclimatisation. Optionally you can take an orientation walk through the old Skardu Bazaar & the beautiful surroundings.

Day 03 :

Preparation & Rest Day at Skardu (2,228m)

Skardu is our high-altitude base-station. It is an old mountain village situated on the banks of the Indus River and guarded by the majestic mountains of the Karakorum range. After breakfast we stretch our legs with a acclimatisation trek to the old Kharpocho fort. Situated few hundred meters above the Skardu Bazaar, Kharpocho, once a commanding stronghold provides superb views of the Indus river, Skardu valley and wilderness.

Day 04 :

Jeep Drive to Hushe Village (3,050m)

A Jeep ride of six hours through the winding roads of the Shyok river valley and the Hushe river brings us to Hushe, the highest village in the valley and home to the giants of the mountains.

Day 05 :

Trek to Saicho (3,330m)

After reaching K2 Basecamp on day 6, day 7, is another easy day of trekking down river, towards Saicho where we leave the valley and split off towards Gondogoro La and Laila Peak.

Day 06 :

Trek to Dalchangpa (4,150m)

Hiking in the mountain range - heading for Dalchangpa. We see the impressive view of granite towers in increasing height and scale

Trek to Laila Peak Base Camp (4,535m)

After we make our Base Camp, our view is at the base of the “Needle”. Above the skyline looms the majestic NW Face of Laila Peak, a perfect 45° degree line up the most famous wall in Pakistan. Today our team will be rigging the area that is our first base camp on our route up.

Day 08 :

Laila Peak Climbing Days (6,096m)

Summit pushing for the first 10 days, so building base camps, setting up C1, C2, ferrying gear up and looking for a good weather window. Climbing is on technical snow and ice steep section on the NW face. Black Yak experts guides will be there to secure the fixed ropes on the summit pushing phase.

Day 18 :

Trek Back to Saicho (3,330m)

After the summit push, we head back down. We’re hiking down again along the moraine of the Gondogoro Glacier until we find ourselves again in the green of Saicho where we relax.

Day 19 :

Trek Back to Hushe Village (3,050m)

Our final walk is another two-hour descent, returning to the village of Hushe. A well deserved feast awaits where we join our porter teams to enjoy the hospitality of our hosts in Balti.

Day 20 :

Drive Back to Skardu (2,228m)

Take the 4x4 Jeeps back to Skardu. You can relax at the hotel, have a hot shower and a comfortable bed to sleep in, while we get sorted with the post-trip logistics.

Day 21 :

Flight or Drive to Islamabad

The morning flight will take us back to Islamabad. If there is any weather cancellation for the flight then we will be travelling through the road via Karakoram Highway.

Day 22 :

Departure to Home Country

Our team is taking care of the last part of your journey, to the airport. Have a safe trip back home, with a lot of beautiful memories of the "Needle of the Karakoram".
