The Four 8,000m Base Camps & Gondogoro La Traverse
Stand in the Shadow of the Giants
This is the trip around the Central Karakoram National Park. Most people only go to K2. Black Yak Adventure takes you to all the big mountains. You get to see the base camps of all four high mountains in the Baltoro area before you go over the famous Gondogoro La.
The Big Four Highlights:
K2 (8,611m): You can stand right at the bottom of the “Savage Mountain” which is the most famous mountain in the world.
Broad Peak (8,051m): You will see where people get ready to climb one of the mountain groups on earth.
Gasherbrum I (8,080m): You can go all the way to the “Hidden Peak” which’s hard to get to in the upper Baltoro.
Gasherbrum II (8,035m): You can explore the bottom of the beautiful pyramid shape mountain in the Karakoram.
Why This Trek is Different:
Concordia. The Throne Room: You will set up camp where the Baltoro and Godwin-Austen glaciers meet. This is the place where you can see four really high mountains from your tent.
The Gondogoro La (5,585m): We do not go back the way. Instead we cross this high pass. When we get to the top at sunrise you can see the view in the world: K2 Broad Peak and the Gasherbrums all lined up in one big circle.
The Hushe Transition: When we come down from the pass we get to the green Hushe Valley. This is really different, from the glaciers we just came from.

Why You Should Join Our Rakaposhi & Nanga Parbat Base Camp Trek Group?
1. Two Of World’s Greatest Mountain Ranges On One Tour
Other trips usually make you choose: are you looking for Himalayan mountains or Karakoram ones? This expedition offers both: lush, alpine green meadows of Nanga Parbat (Himalayas) alongside dramatic, vertical granite faces and colossal glaciers of Rakaposhi (Karakoram). The seamless itinerary allows you to see the finest aspects of both range in one go.
2. Unparalleled Local Experience & logistics
There’s more to trekking in the remote mountain regions of Gilgit-Baltistan than just maps and boots. Our guides and organizers are born in both Raikot Valley (home to Nanga Parbat) and Nagar Valley (home to Rakaposhi) so their understanding of the terrain and cultures is second to none. All the 4×4 Jeeps, permits and coordination between two valleys is managed by us so that you can fully immerse in the journey.
3. Smart Itinerary Designed for Optimal Acclimatisation
This trek is expertly timed to help your body acclimatize smoothly. Starting at Fairy Meadows at 3300m you can gently adjust and begin building essential red blood cells, then it’s onward to a deeper exploration into the glacial world of Rakaposhi with significantly lower chance of encountering altitude sickness.
