Upon landing, we’ll take a phenomenal forty-five minute flight to Skardu with fantastic views of Nanga Parbat. Alternatively, if flight’s aren’t possible, we drive by private coaster along the famous Karakorum Highway to Skardu, overnight in hotel.

Whilst our logistics team are obtaining their final government permits and briefing our guides have the day free to conduct final gear checks, go through last minute briefings with the tourist department and explore the local skardu Bazaar with a final feast for the eyes of Skardu's magnificent mountain vistas.

Hop aboard rugged 4x4 jeeps for a fun and bumpy ride along the valley floor to Askole – the last village we will pass as we make our way into the wilderness of the Karakoram.

Ideally the Route is :

[ Askole ] ➔ [ Jhola ] ➔ [ Paiju ] ➔ [ Urdukas ] ➔ [ Goro II ] ➔ [ Concordia ]

And so the trekking actually starts! We continue the march over the desolated ground alongside the thunderous Braldu River for 6 to 7 hours and reach the neat encampment of Jhola next to the conjunction of Braldu and Dumordo rivers.

The valley floor undulates and we rise steadily. This is our first taste of the towering granite monoliths – we’re in the territory of Cathedral Peak and the Trango Towers! We set camp for the night at Paiju, situated below small willows, an unusual bit of greenery.

Today is an important rest day for the whole climbing group and all our Balti porters. Use this day to allow your body to acclimate to the thinner air whilst our chefs provide you with a good, wholesome meal.

We officially find ourselves stepping on the tip of this colossal Baltoro Glacier today. Trekking along an exciting path made up of rock, ice, and moraine to Khoburtse our camp which opens up to this expansive mountain valley vista.

An even shorter but demanding climb takes us up to Urdukas, which has the remarkable distinction of resting on a couple of grassy platforms several hundred meters above the ice and in line with sheer granite cliffs of the Trangos.

We are trekking through the center of the Baltoro Glacier where we go straight uphill to ice sails. These peaks to our right are changing from raw rock faces into clean white snowy peaks. Tonight we are on the glacier at Goro II and we sleep in insulated tents on the ice of the Baltoro Glacier.

The quintessential K2 trek. Travel by jeep to the trek starting point, hike to the famous confluence of the Baltoro and Godwin-Austen glaciers called Concordia, the "Throne Room of the Mountain Gods." Open the door of your tent and look across 360 degrees of the world's largest peaks: K2, Broad Peak and the Gasherbrums.

We head out of the junction on Godwin-Austen glacier and we're trekking for 4-5 hours and reach to Broad Peak Base camp. We establish our elevated base station, complete with large communal dining tents and individual sleeping facilities.

Your first three full days here will focus on adjusting, getting acquainted with personal hardware and performing our Puja ritual. Guides will review the use of technical fixed lines as you work out your lungs in this 4,900m high altitude setting.

Here it comes - the greatest of endurance tests! We'll spend these 25 days systematically moving our highly trained team up and down the western ridge to set and resupply Camps 1, 2, and 3. Our expedition will also safely cross precarious steep snow sections, string up safety lines and spend time acclimatizing before the historic summit push to the Broad Peak Main Summit (8047m) during an optimal weather window.

It serves as a much-needed safety buffer in our trip plan. If adverse Karakoram weather and high winds hinder the progress of our first scheduled summit day, this gives us enough breathing room to sit tight and push to the summit safely.

Having summited, we meticulously pack up our camp, leaving absolutely no litter behind. We hike back down to the glacier where we will have one final night camping at the confluence of the glacier Concordia.

We head back down the spine of the Baltoro. The walk down goes surprisingly quickly as your body is well acclimatised and you are much lighter pack.

Slipping past shifting lateral moraines we depart the vast ice expanse for the welcome solidity of Urdukas' terraces.

We begin to descend from the high glacier into the warmer, oxygen filled atmosphere. We then have a jolly good group dinner to round off an expedition to the mountain at Paiju camp.

A gentle level day walk, out along the banks of the Braldu. As the wild, wonderful canyons disappear behind us, we arrive at our peaceful camp at Jhola.

Our final day on trek is upon us, ending in a circle back into the mountaintop outpost of Askole and capped with a special farewell party for our wonderful Balti porter team.

Private 4x4 jeeps are ready for us at the village roadhead. We then drive down the scenic, exhilarating jeep ride back down the valley to our luxurious hotel in Skardu for a steaming shower and relaxing bed.

Catch our scheduled return flight to the capital. Glance out of the plane window during our final descent over the Indus River, one last dramatic glance at the mighty mountains. (If our flight is cancelled because of weather, our drive back along the Karakoram Highway will be by private coach.)
